Fairways GM team goes west and south to keep up with industry developments

Last week was a busy one for the team at Fairways GM.

Regional Manager, Rob Hogarth attended ’Links Club’, an annual educational event for over 50 links course managers from across the UK and further afield.

Rob, himself a former parkland Course Manager at top 100 Course, Remedy Oak at Dorset and, nearer to home at Macdonald Cardrona Hotel, had been invited by Wiedenmann UK, our sister company and one of the event sponsors.

‘Links Club’ featured days at Fairhaven GC and St Annes Old Links GC, in the northwest, before finishing up with a tour of Royal Lytham GC. With talks on everything from fine grass to fescue, and helping display Wiedenmann kit, it was an excellent opportunity for a 360° view of ‘life on the links and an invaluable way to keep skills fresh.

At the same time, Managing Director, David Rae, and Business Manager for the North of Scotland, John Morton, had travelled over 100 miles further south, to the NEC at Birmingham, for the two-day Saltex event, organised by the Grounds Maintenance Association.

There, they got up close to the two machines everyone is talking about…

They saw the industry defining Ransomes AURØRA ELiTE powered by Samsung SDI technology. Marketed as having zero emissions, zero fuel and zero compromises, it had a huge amount of interest. Round the corner, Jacobsen were showcasing emissions and hydraulic-free sports cutting with the new SLf1 ELiTE. Both machines represent a huge step forward and are subject to much interest across the industry.

The team at Fairways looks froward to demonstrating these machines in the field to customers in the coming months.
